Airbus H175 helicopters join Australia’s PHI Aviation fleet for first time

Two new Airbus H175 helicopters have been delivered to Australia’s PHI Aviation becoming the first time that the operator will utilize the variant.  

PHI Aviation operates over 200 helicopters in some of the most challenging environments for energy providers, hospitals and air medical organizations, government and military organizations. 

On October 7, 2024, PHI Aviation confirmed that the Airbus H175s will be deployed with offshore energy firm INPEX Australia. 

“Congratulations to our entire PHI team for bringing this fantastic aircraft to market as we prepare to begin operations. This marks an exciting chapter for PHI and further solidifies our leadership in the region,” said Cory Latiolais, PHI Aviation COO, Asia Pacific. 

News of the two new additions comes as PHI Aviation celebrates its 75th anniversary from its bases in Broome, Darwin and Exmouth.

In a statement Airbus said that the new H175 helicopters will be based out of Broome, with additional H175s expected to join the fleet in the coming months.   

“We are pleased to support our long-term customer PHI Aviation with delivery of the H175 helicopters for their current Australian fleet. The high performance of the H175 aircraft in the challenging Western Australian environment is an excellent addition for the PHI Aviation fleet, especially with their focus on search and rescue operations, and marine transfers,” said Christian Venzal, Managing Director of Airbus Helicopters in Australia and New Zealand.   

PHI Aviation’s fleet also includes Airbus H160s, Sikorsky S-92As, Airbus H145s, Bell B412s and Eurocopter EC135s.  

“These state-of-the-art aircraft are a significant addition to our growing fleet in Australia. They elevate our operational capabilities while reinforcing our commitment to sustainable innovation and delivering world-class service to our clients,” Latiolais added.
