United Airlines resumes San Francisco – Melbourne operations

United Airlines resumes its San Francisco to Melbourne flights, following Australia’s decision to fully reopen its international borders to fully vaccinated travelers as of February 21, 2022.

UA is one of the few carriers who maintained flights between the United States and Australia (Los Angeles – Sydney) to transport essential cargo throughout the pandemic. 

Starting May 7, 2022, United Airlines passenger flights from San Francisco to Melbourne will be resumed. The thrice weekly flights are scheduled to depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. 

UA 60 departs San Francisco at 23:00 local time and will arrive in Melbourne at 07:30 local time the following day. UA 61 departs Melbourne at 09:30 local time and will arrive in San Francisco at 07:00 local time the same day.

In December 2021, Virgin Australia announced that it had partnered with United Airlines after ending its long-standing alliance with Delta Air Lines
